We went in for a pizza with pepperoni and garlic. It was delicious.
We also ordered a pitcher of Yuengling beer which went well with our meal. I did order a side of meatballs -- pass. I am not a picky person, but the meatballs I would not recommend, not flavorful enough, too dry, and too salty. Sorry. However, I got back to California and have been craving John's of Bleecker for 11 months now! Pepperoni and garlic pizza was very good. : ) |

Hi all, I stumbled across this thread while looking for a nice pizza place to visit here in Sydney , Australia on the occasion of my daughters birthday. In February 2008 we were in NYC and heard so much about Johns of Bleecker St that we just had to give it a go. As mentioned previously we had to line up with all these excited customers from all over the US of A and abroad. A fun experience which left us in hungry anticipation of our upcoming pizza. Finally we were seated amid the rustic ambience of Johns trying to enjoy a very average Californian wine as we ordered from the menu. Can't remember what we ordered as the "pie" that came out was equally forgettable. Looking around, it seemed that everyone else thought that the "King was indeed wearing new clothes"
In other words my friends, the food was crap, it was tasteless, overcooked and unfinishable. The pastry was dry, the toppings tired, the sauce invisible. I would expect a pizza like that in a third rate takeaway next to the Ingleburn Inn. If that is what you consider a great pizza, please do yourselves a favour and travel to Naples, Italy or Sydney, Australia to remind yourself of how good, real Italian cooking can be........oh, did I mention the coffee?.......... |

#1!!!! This is the BEST pizza I've had - even after sampling in CT. I haven't tried Grimaldi's yet but plan to on my next NYC visit and will update all. I can guarantee that I'll be eating at John's again ..... and again .... Can never get enough of this one!
